FMFD : FBSL Mini Form Designer

Unread postby Gerome » Sat Dec 23, 2006 10:52 pm

Dear all,

Before Christmas, Mike decided to be a real Santa Claus!
And he's offering a real good Form Designer in avant premiere for people who are interested in... GUI design :)

Here it is a compiled version of FMFD !
This version does not provide any sources publicly, respecting its author will :)

This GUI designer works, it's at an alpha stage but without any memory leaks, just some capacities are not implemented yet, like Saving and loading a Form, but it is aimed at beeing exposed to see what we actually able to do using FBSL at 100%

Here's the link :

Thanks in advance for pointing out bugs or alike to its author, directly into that thread :)

Have a merry Christmas !
Yours,

Looking good. Like the way you can move and size controls with the shift/control arrow key combination. What would be nice would be able to 'select' a group of controls and move them 'en bloc'. Perhaps even adjust spacing automatically.
I must say that this sort of thing and the inevitable requests for EXTRAS and MORE FEATURES are usually done by a team not one man, even though that man is one of rare ability.

Seasons greetings to one and all.

Thanks guys,

I've implemented code generation already, that is, your visual design is translated into a sort of template with all the control creation and placement code generated automatically for you to add manually whatever other functionality you need for your application.

Currently I'm working on the control window style editor, and it involves a lot of manual routine work. As soon as it's ready, I'll release an alpha version for you to test and, hopefully, utilize. Then I'll be adding a sort of a rudimentary property editor and, this done, I'll post a beta release.

This visual designer is intended to fill in the gap in GUI design capabilities of FBSL while my FSF (FBSL Script Factory) IDE is a work in progress.

FMFD is a limited tool and I won't implement all the sophisticated features like group selection operations etc. in it. All these will be incorporated in the future FSF.

Instead, I'll make FMFD open-sourced and fully commented. Anyway, it's based mostly on freeware code and it would be incorrect to the original authors to abuse their code in a closed-source project. Anybody who's interested will be encouraged to improve the code and add new features.

Thanks for the reports once again.

Mike :)

Very, very good. You can delete "Mini" word from "Mini Form Designer"

Waiting for sources in order to learn something new.
