FBSL Hilite Editor v1.0 Beta

(Updates to FBSL Editors, RAD and Related Stuff)

Thanks for the effort, guys, but I go back WAAAYY farther than TuboBasic or BasicA. Try Commodore PET Basic. It isn't the look of Mike's editor that I need to get used to. Two specific things that I like about Crimson Editor are:
  1. Multiple documents (but Recent Files is a close approximation of that).
  2. As I have already mentioned: a new search searches the whole document, not just what's after the caret.
I have an icon on my desktop now and I will let you know if I have any further complaints. :D

Bob,

If I make it wrap the search, do you promise to use my editor? :D

Dear all,

I think the navigation key bug is finally over and done with. Please download the latest build and see if the fix works on your PCs.

Thanks,

Mike :)

Dear all,

I'm uploading Build 1.0.18. It's not yet very stable but I need to test the new feature -- syntax check/line format. It operates more or less stable in response to VK_RETURN but should also be able to work if you move off the currently edited line with a mouse click. Please don't hesitate to report if/when you find bugs.

Thanks in advance,

Mike :)

It really rocks!
Very fine enhancement Mike!
You've done a great job, thanks a lot for that powerful feature!

Simple question :
is it possible to add a menuitem that would do an entire check of the source from : either the actual caret position or concerning the whole file ?

Thanks a lot!
My office config : WinXP SP1 FR 512 MB RAM Celeron 2.4 Ghz without admin rights :)

Hi Gerome,

This formatter is written in FBSL to show how it should work. But it's very slow to filter the entire code especially for longer files like my editor code. When the formatter is tested, I'll add ASM options like Filter On Load, Convert Keywords To Upper/Lower/Mixed Case, and Scope Indent to format the entire code either on load or whenever needed. Those will be editor options, not menu items.

OK, not a problem since i know you're ASM addict and i know how strong your code & ideas are : in Mike's code we trust ;)

Hi everybody,

The new Build 1.0.19 introduces some new options and corrects a bug in the File Save routine. Please note that the ini file structure is changed so replace the one you have with the new one too.

Hi Gerome and Mike,

A question:
How can you change the tab size? (I don't like 8 character tabs)

If I add a space before the first character of a line, once you move off the line, the line is automatically justified to the left margin.

before:
Code: Select all
        CONNECTOID   = "ODBCO2"

after:
Code: Select all
CONNECTOID = "ODBCO2"

Regards

Hi Dougie,

1/ The formatter is in it's initial state. It's being modelled after the VB6 autoformatter which does not allow tabs within the line and changes them to a single space. So does my formatter.

2/ Until tab substitution with spaces is implemented (it's disabled now for the time being in the Options dialog), the only valid indentation character is tab. To maintain the indentation, you must use tabs, not spaces which are reduced to a single space.

When tab-to-space conversion is available (hopefully soon), you'll be able to optionally use tabs or their space substitutions as indentation characters.
The tab width-to-space width approximation will also be implemented.

Until then, if you regard tab indentation unbearable, please uncheck the Options->Editor->Auto Format->On Selection Change box and enjoy whatever indentation characters you're accustomed to... :)
