Hi Chris and Gerome and all,

Thanks for the congrats, Chris, and I wish you all the same!

Gerome, I've been through some difficulties, but speaking about brighter side of life, I've also become a granddad for the second time (Serge now has a cute little daughter, no name yet, characterised only by centimeters of length -- babies don't walk so you can't rightfully say they have height -- and kilos of weight)... :D

Talking about the code, it's not strictly a port though some pieces are universal for almost all Basic flavors. Regretfully it isn't optimized at all so it's rather slow but these versions are robust enough as far as GDI objects are concerned.

I talked to Leandro both in Google-translated Spanish and in English and he agreed to revise his samples to improve the GDI object handling part. Otherwise his site is very carfully designed to look rather attractive and it contains lots of fresh and quite original content as opposed to most other VB sites once launched and later abandoned by script kiddies of various sorts.

With some effort, these scripts may evolve into a skinning engine, not of the Windows Blinds level of course but still quite flexible and applicable in projects that require unusual visual design solutions.

Personally I am not very interested in such things but I still think that some day I may engage myself in developing a custom aero glass skin engine for use under WinXP and up. This will require unusual real-time processing speeds so it'll use Dynamic Assembler, and this is exactly what attracts me most... ;-)

Mike :)

Yess Mike,

You're always welcome and my sincere congrats to your son Serge and his incoming brand new daughter!

I bet he'll be totally gaga about his new baby, and dads with their daugthers... I know that because I have two daugthers :)

Hope your business is OK and I'll check you as soon as possible when you'll tell me you're OK to continue a bit with me to terminate the autodectection algo for the sound cards... :)

See you later my friend and keep the faith!
